RAC is extending its support of Town Team Movement, becoming a principal partner and announcing $50,000 in funding through the second RAC Connecting Communities Fund, to bring life to local spaces across WA.

RAC General Manager Corporate Affairs Will Golsby said the partnership would help create more connected and liveable communities, improving the lives of RAC members and the wider WA community.

“Allowing residents to be directly involved in shaping and improving their community has huge social, economic and environmental benefits, which is why we’re proud to strengthen our relationship with Town Team Movement,” Mr Golsby said.

“As part of the partnership, we’re thrilled to again offer the RAC Connecting Communities Fund, to help activate local spaces and make neighbourhoods more vibrant and resilient.”

The fund will see a pool of $50,000 distributed to support Town Team initiatives which contribute to more vibrant, active, engaged and sustainable communities through place making or activation.

“Communities are stronger when residents feel physically and socially connected with each other and their environment, and revitalising local areas is a significant step in this direction,” Mr Golsby said.

“In our inaugural round of funding, launched last year, RAC’s Connecting Communities Fund supported a range of initiatives such as local festivals and street events, community picnics, Aboriginal artwork installations, laneway lighting, and unique neighbourhood furniture.

Town Team Movement Co-founder Jimmy Murphy said Town Team Movement was excited to continue and strengthen its partnership with RAC.

“We are ecstatic that RAC has partnered with us in a big way to support our Town Teams in the wonderful work they do in bringing communities together and supporting each other.”

Town Team Movement is a community-led initiative which aligns with RAC’s focus on creating a more connected, liveable and sustainable WA.

The RAC Connecting Communities Funds is open to new and existing Town Teams in Western Australia. Applications open today and will close on September 4, 2020. For more information, and to apply, visit rac.com.au/town-team-movement.
