RAC is calling on the WA Government to commit to projects and initiatives critical for WA.

These will save lives, create thousands of jobs and deliver a safer, sustainable and connected Western Australia.

Safer regional roads

  • Ensure the existing Regional Road Safety Program is fully funded and delivered.
  • Co-fund a new program applying low-cost safety treatments to approximately 8,000 kilometres of high speed sealed local government roads.

Improved active transport

  • Direct 10% of the transport capital budget toward active transport infrastructure to ensure the Long Term Cycle Network is completed within a decade.
  • $3 rather than $1 for each dollar local governments spend on Long Term Cycle Network projects.
  • Expand the WA Bicycle Network Grants Program funding criteria to include all Long Term Cycle Network routes within precincts such as schools, activity centres and train stations.

Cleaner transport

  • $23 million or more to expand the WA EV network program, focusing on public charging infrastructure and amenities along major regional and remote routes.
  • $15 million to expand the WA Charge Up Grants Program, easing expenditure and applicant criteria to speed up workplace, destination, and public EV fast charger installation.
  • $6.8 million or more in an initial EV fleet purchase rebate to support WA businesses.

Improvements to Perth’s high-frequency bus network

  • $120m over 4 years for a bus priority program along high-frequency routes. Think more buses, on time, with improved pedestrian connections.
