How do I update my policy with details of my new car?

You don’t have to cancel your current car insurance policy if you get a new car. You can simply modify your old policy. When you update your car details online, you might need to pay for a higher premium or you might get a refund if the new premium is lower.  

Step 1: Log in to myRAC

Log in to myRAC. If you don’t already have a myRAC account, you’ll need to register first.

Step 2: Select ‘Manage your policy’

Find your policy. Select Manage. Then select Manage your policy.

Step 3: Get ready to update

Select Update my policy.

Step 4: Start date

Choose a start date for any changes and select Next to continue.

Step 5: Your car

We'll ask whether this is the right make or model. Select No, it isn’t.
Enter your registration, select Search, then select Confirm.
Or search by make and model, fill in the details, then select Confirm.

Step 6: Confirm your car details

Advise if the car has modifications and finance. Then select Next to continue.

Step 7: Car usage

Advise what you use your car for, the address where your car is usually kept, and the kilometres driven annually. Then select Next to continue.

Step 8: Your premium

We'll let you know if there's a change to your premium. Then select Next to continue.

Step 9: Pay

If there’s a change to your premium, you’ll need to pay and then select Confirm.
