Reconnect WA seeks to help reimagine and revitalise streets and public spaces, laying the foundation to support safe, sustainable, and connected communities. The initiative aims to inspire residents and business communities to co-design these projects and help create places for Western Australians to interact and reconnect with each other.

Launched projects
Wellard Village 7 Day Makeover
In partnership with the City of Kwinana, the Strand in Wellard was made over in just seven days to create a more vibrant and active community space. The makeover was led by place-making expert David Engwicht and co-designed and delivered by more than 170 community volunteers.
Town of Bassendean 'Power to the People'
In partnership with the Town of Bassendean, we helped to redesign and activate the high street in Bassendean’s town centre, closing part of the road to traffic to create a more pedestrian-friendly community space.
Hannay Lane in Dunsborough
In partnership with the City of Busselton, we converted Hannay Lane in Dunsborough into a more pedestrian friendly street.
Coming soon to Perth
In partnership with the City of Fremantle, we are revitalising the Paddy Troy Mall through street art, enhancing pedestrian connections and alfresco areas, and improving lighting and landscaping.
In partnership with the City of South Perth, we will be upgrading the Godwin Avenue drainage sump in Manning into an active community park with improved bike riding connections linking people to Canning train station, local schools and Curtin University.
In partnership with the City of Vincent, we will be temporarily reimagining the laneway between View Street and the Rosemount Hotel car parks into a pedestrian-friendly shared zone with art, lighting, pop-up alfresco, vertical gardens, greenery, and places to sit and socialise.
Coming soon to regional WA
The Witchcliffe Main Street – A Place for People project involves the revitalisation of the Witchcliffe town centre and parkland to test elements of the streetscape plan before making permanent changes to upgrade the area.
In partnership with the Shire of Carnamah, we will create a family nature play area with shade, seating, and a Big Bobtail centre piece to represent local First Nations groups in the new youth space on Carnamah's main street, being developed in co-design with the youth of Carnamah.
In partnership with the Shire of Ravensthorpe, we will be upgrading the underutilised Hopetoun foreshore space through art, safer bike riding connectivity, amenities and facilities to support more people to use the space more often.
